What a lovely day to visit Craiglockhart Primary School!
And thanks for Ted's help to drive us there~this school is really far away from Moray House.
When we arrived at the primary school, we saw some cute kids dress up with makeup
It made us so curious what we would see today!
The Head teacher, Mr. Murdoch, kindly introduce the environment of the school and briefly talked about what we were going to do within the visit.
Aroud 9 o'clock, all the students gathered in a hall.
The head teacher talked to them about some school activities in the following week, and awarded some students for their excellent interscholastic or classroom performance.
It is interesting to observe how the head teacher interact with students in this period of time.
Unlike most of head teachers/principals in Taiwan, Mr. Murdoch allowed students to raise their questions when he talked. And, all the students were very well-disciplined while the head teacher was talking. Besides, we got the answer for what we saw this morning that students in primary one was going to have a monster party today.
The two classes students and teachers in primary one all dress up for the party.
When they are introduced to rest of students, some of the students in primary two said,
"Why didn't we have monster party when we were in primary one?"~
How cute! Party always makes us alive, doesn't it?
We four visitors joined different classes from 9:30 to 10:30.
I joined the nursery school that students who come to nursery school in the morning from 9 to 11:30 are about 4-5 years old.
The classroom is segemanted into several sections that students can freely do what they want to do within this period of time.
Today, students there mainly made masks because the teachers got the ideas from the monster party.
They are free to choose to do the mask or not.
Therefore, I played a role as a captain with Lucy, and helped some sweet young ladies to make their masks.
Some other students invited me to join their world of sand, still others want me to help them disguise as a "really" scary monster.
Although some students did the same activity, they did not encounter problems to share the resources in the classroom.
Students couldn't wait to show me their work after finishing it.
According to the teachers in this class, they would have more outdoor activities such as gardening in summer.
Meanwhile, they would have various festival activities, for example, they made fried rice for Chinese New Year in their cosy kitchen in the classroom!
All the students could really see and participate in this kind of cooking activities~how nice!
Monster party started at 10:50, and teachers prepared two activities for the party.
In the first activity, a teacher led her students to demonstrate this activity and then invite another class of students to form the second circle.
Teacher Monster pretended to have a mess of sticky jelly on her face.
Everyone in the circle had to pass this mess to his or her neighbor monster with different gestures.
Kids were love to see how sticky the jelly was on thier teachers' faces, and they imitated their teachers with their own creative ideas.
As for the second activity, all the little monsters played a game that they sang and danced only when the music was played. Teacher Monster would pick up the one who still moved when music stopped. All the kids had fun that even when they sat aside on the bench, they still sang loudly with their arms waving.
After the party, we went to visit Mr. Murroch in his office~
share with you about our interview with head teacher and classroom management next time...really tired now~ :P
I do love school visit!!!
